2nd Deepcut Inquest begins - John Cooper QC & Alex Jamieson (instructed by JD Spicer Zeb) represent the family of Private Geoff Gray.
Geoff Gray died from his gunshot wounds on 17th September 2001, at the notorious Deepcut barracks. Since then, his parents have campaigned for more than 17 years to find out just how their son died. This week, a second inquest into his death began before HH Peter Rook QC. The case is due to sit for several months, and to hear evidence from more than a hundred witnesses. John Cooper QC and Alex Jamieson represent the Grays in their effort to finally uncover the truth.
The case has come to court as last year John and Alex (together with their solicitors JD Spicer Zeb) persuaded the High Court that Geoff’s original inquest ought to be quashed in the light of significant new evidence, and a new investigation begun. The original inquest had sat for less than 4 hours on a single day, and not heard from many key witnesses.
