"Dangerousness" - Court of Appeal prefers Restraining Orders to Extended Determinate Sentences

Tyrone Smith QC (instructed by Anthony Harris of Garstangs Burrows Bussin) represented Ray Woolley.

The Court of Appeal quashed Mr Woolley’s EDS and held that in cases where the assessment of a defendant’s dangerousness was limited to the targeting of a specific person that the court should avoid the use of EDS other than in exceptional cases and instead try to tailor a sentence involving restraining orders
