Michael Neofytou secures a stay of proceedings in Operation Auron

After 2 hung juries in trials lasting a total of 11 weeks at the Old Bailey, Michael Neofytou instructed as leading counsel secured a stay of proceedings after the prosecution attempted to persuade HHJ Rook QC that a second re-trial was in the interests of justice.
The prosecution had alleged 10-handed conspiracies to kidnap, falsely imprison and blackmail for a £100,000 ransom in which significant levels of torture were deployed in an ordeal lasting 48 hours. Those convicted in an earlier trial received sentences of up to 14 years. Michael Neofytou was instructed by Peter Walsh of Shaw Graham Kersh and he led Tessa Shroff of 9 Bedford Row.
