R v Zatoon Bibi: Lady Killers Documentary

The 10 part series, "The Lady Killers", has included three programmes featuring different female clients Jo Sidhu QC has represented in murder trials over the years. 

This third episode focuses on the case of Zatoon Bibi who was prosecuted along with her husband and teenage son at Birmingham Crown Court in 2016. 

The story involved a bizarre love triangle in which Ms Bibi had two children with her married lover during their extra marital affair. The children were grudgingly accepted by her husband with whom she had already had four children. When the lover decided to terminate the affair, Ms Bibi hatched a plot to have him beaten and strangled to death, enlisting her husband and 15 year old son to help her. The lover’s body ended up folded into a cardboard box and dumped in the boot of his own car.

In the programme, Jo Sidhu QC talks in detail about the background to the killing and how the investigation finally led to her downfall.

This episode won Best Specialist Factual Documentary at the Royal Television Society Awards 2020.
