Samantha Riggs secures acquittal of company director

Samantha Riggs represented a company director accused of offences relating to submitting controlled waste to a listed operation, contrary to section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The defendant was the director of a multi-million-pound steel company. He was alleged to have set fire to waste illegally deposited at his home address. The jury reached a not guilty verdict in less than one hour, following a two-week trial in Snaresbrook Crown Court.
