Sophie is a criminal defence specialist with a busy crown court practice. She has experience defending in cases involving all types of allegations including fraud, sexual offences, serious violence, drugs and public order offences.

Sophie is a committed advocate, with a dedicated approach to client care and a meticulous approach to case preparation.

She has a particular interest in cases involving sexual offences across the spectrum. A recent case in which she was led involved historic sexual offences where the defendant had an intermediary.

Sophie also appears in the Youth Court for cases involving serious offences. In addition, she has experience in the civil jurisdiction of the criminal courts.

Sophie acts in a range of matters as a led junior and junior alone.

Background

Before joining the bar, Sophie worked as a paralegal at a London criminal defence firm, assisting on a wide range of cases. Sophie contributed to the  publication of “Human Rights in Criminal Law”, specifically regarding the relationship between Article 7 ECHR, UK criminal trials, and sentencing.

Sophie worked as a research assistant to Counsel on multiple immigration appeal cases, that had a background of criminal proceedings. Whilst at University Sophie was Project Director of a Pro Bono Unit. This project supported the Syrian Legal Development Programme.
