The Common Platform
The Common Platform - the next big thing or the latest White Elephant?
Date: Thursday 24 February 2022
Time: 5:45pm - 6:30pm
Format: Via Zoom (resources below)
Host: Sonal Dashani
Speaker: Paul Keleher QC
Everyone has heard of the Common Platform but not many have direct experience of it and still fewer know where it is headed.
Paul Keleher QC has been leading the Bar’s involvement with digital technology since 2010, firstly with the development and integration of the Crown Court Digital Case System (CCDCS), and now the newly developed Common Platform, liaising with the Ministry of Justice on behalf of both the Criminal Bar Association and Bar Council.
The Common Platform is a key element of HMCTS' court reform programme. This new digital case management system brings together all the relevant information about a criminal case for HMCTS, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Police, the National Probation Service and other partner organisations within the criminal justice system to access. It provides a single, collaborative digital platform for both Crown and Magistrates’ Courts. The wider roll-out of the Common Platform and replacement of the CCDCS is underway.
During this Webinar, Paul explained what lies in store on the IT front.
